1. Who first announced the resurrection of Jesus?

3. Who first came to the tomb (after Jesus’ burial)?

4. Which two disciples had a sort of race to the tomb? Which one arrived first and and which one entered the tomb first?

5. To whom did the risen Lord first appear?

6. Some of those who were guarding the tomb of Jesus went to the chief priests to report on what had happened. How did the chief priests respond? 

7. Give a summary of the story of Jesus’ encounter with the two disciples whom He joined on the road to Emmaus.

8. McGarvey identifies ten appearances of Jesus to various groups and individuals after His resurrection. Provide the following information about the fifth appearance: To whom did He appear? When? Where? Was Jesus recognized immediately? If not, how did He reveal Himself? Did Jesus do any teaching on this occasion? If so, explain. Describe the witnesses’ response to His appearance. How did the episode conclude?

9. Write about the sixth appearance in the same way. Highlight any differences in this experience.

10. The seventh appearance.

11. The tenth appearance.

12. Sum up the account of Jesus’ ascension.

13. On one occasion Jesus disappeared after He had appeared. Cite book, chapter and verse.  

14. Jesus’ disappearance may provide the basis for an argument that His resurrected body was different in nature from His pre-resurrection body. What else did He do after His resurrection that would lend weight to this view?
